The love story of Lianshangbo and Zhuyingtai began in A.D.377. A senior official of the imperial court named Zhu, in order to strength his position and his power, managed to curry favor with the powerful and he married off his only daughter Zhuyingtai (acted by Yangcaini) to a Taishou(the President of a province nowdays)named Ma. Considering that Zhuyingtai had no interest in studying and for fear that she would be rude to others, he sent her disguising as a boy to study in a Chongqi school.
