Revisiting old places and looking at the different essence in each of these areas, we see how they have helped shape the art of Huang Yong Yu: his hometown Fenghuang Zhen in Hunan province, whose beautiful waters and hills were the emotional cradle of his unique style; the picturesque romanticism of Italy, which allowed him to give full reign to his painting and writing while immersing himself in the leisurely local lifestyle; and yet, ultimately, why did Huang chose the notorious "cultural desert" of Hong Kong as his eventual base of operations?
