As General MacArthur struggles to build a fighting force in the Philippines, the Japanese move in and attack with ferocity at Bataan that force him to abandon the islands. Now vulnerable, 80,000 Americans and Filipino are taken prisoner and then forced on a 'death march' that will claim 10,000 lives.
In the summer of 1941, the Japanese invade the Philippines and force General Douglas MacArthur to withdraw. The Philippine scouts maintain the battle against the Japanese, but after the disastrous surrender at batten, the country falls. Nearly 80,000 prisoners are forced to make a 65 mile'death march'.
