A desperate samurai named Iemon and his wife, Qiwa, are earning a meager living making parasols. When his behavior of stealing money is discovered by his father-in-law, Iemon is forced to commit murder. He later kills sereral members of his wife's family after they descover his crimes. Seeking refuge from the law, he hides out in a Buddhist temple, where the ghosts of his murdered in-laws return to avenge themselves......
